"Csound"

As previously mentioned on the main link page Csound consists of two main elements -

orchestra (.orc) & score(.sco)

First, the orc informs the composer of what instrument(s) that are being utilized. It covers every portion of a instr. from it's name, duration, amplitude etc.

The sco computes the value of each note of the inst. by arithmetic operations from the mathcoprocesser.

The orc & sco have 1 element that they both use which is 'p-fields'- basically p-field are those fields where all info is entered for the instr.

The next image will give you an idea of what the Orc & Sco look like - before rending a Csound piece

Just a couple other notes - as you see from the PA there is a header that contains main info for the piece - sr (sample rate) - kr(control rate) - ksamps (sample & control amplitude ) & nchnls (channels of output - 1=mono 2= stereo

Also, there f statements (tables) these assign funtionalty to certain istr. that use them - for the tweaking of all 4 wave forms (sine, sawtooth, square & pulse)

The instr. (toots ) that were used in the following piece are :

Instr. 1 - Chorusing

Instr.2 - Vibrato

Instr. 3 - Crossfade

Instr. 4 - Soundin ( hence were the name of business /website came from)

Instrs. 5&6 - Global Stereo Reverb

Other Instrs. used :

Instr. 10 - Filtered Noise

Instr .11 - Carry & Tempo (plucking instr.)

Instr. 12 - Spectral Fusion

Hope you like the sound bite ( you won't hear this piece on Top 40 stations), if you have any ?'s please email me & I'll try to give the best answer!

One more Footnote, when rendering pieces in Csound they are encoded into .AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format), Csound at this time cannot read .MP3 formats, but for the purpose of this site all sound bites have been converted into that format , for a quicker download.
