Csound - a music synthesis application that has ability to play any kind of music - sound effect - that is programmed into it.
Csound uses every kind instrument known to man, from the Bass to piano, etc.
Each piece has a orchestra & score, with these elements the composer is programming a musical masterpiece from scratch .
Also, to his/her disposal there is Chorusing, Panning, Plucking & Soundins.
Soundins basically are any sounds from CD's, tapes, records, etc.
Csound - thru programming the correct parameters - within the Soundin orch. & scr. can change the original sound into something completely different .
Another handy tool that Csound uses is called - SoundHack a soundfile processing program.
Soundhack performs many utility and esoteric sound processing functions.
